HERBS IN 本草網目

Chinese herbs, documented for over 1,500 years.

Backed by traditional Chinese medicine. Studied by modern researchers.

The earliest Chinese pharmacopeia — Shennong Ben Cao Jing (神農本草經) — was compiled around 200 CE. The most comprehensive guide to traditional Chinese herbs, Ben Cao Gang Mu (本草綱目), was published in 1578 and remains in active use across Chinese apothecaries today.

In the past two decades, PubMed has indexed over 11,000 peer-reviewed studies on the Chinese herbs in our library — covering pharmacology, safety, and clinical effects. We've drawn from this body of research in building each LunarSip blend.

How LunarSip differs.

It's not enough to simply use the right Chinese herbs; how they're sourced, processed, and brewed is just as important. We start with whole, dried botanicals from the same regional suppliers our family has trusted for decades — and ship them to you in the form they were always meant to be taken, exactly as they leave a traditional Chinese apothecary.

From 《本草綱目》 — the Compendium of Materia Medica.

Every Chinese herb in our library is documented in the Compendium of Materia Medica — compiled by the Ming Dynasty physician Li Shizhen in 1578 after twenty-seven years of fieldwork across China.

For four hundred years, Chinese herbalists have used 《本草綱目》 the way Western doctors use the Merck Manual. Our father consults a copy at the apothecary counter most days. We picked 53 of its herbs — the ones that have held up in our family's TCM practice over three generations — and built LunarSip around them.

How we source these Chinese herbs.

Our Chinese herbs come from regional growers our father has worked with since he was an apprentice. Goji from Ningxia. Ginseng from Northeast China. Chrysanthemum from Hangzhou's own hills. These are the same supplier relationships that stock the family apothecary by West Lake — and now they stock LunarSip.

We didn't switch suppliers when we started shipping internationally. We didn't go looking for the cheapest extract. The Chinese herbs that arrive at your door are the same ones our neighbors in Hangzhou brew at home.
